  3. 10.21 Deacon Board meeting excerpts.
  • The 2024 plan and budget of the church, as proposed by different departments, were reviewed and endorsed with some minor adjustments. The final version will be stated in the AGM handbook to be released on November and presented and discussed in the Family Chat on November 24, 25 and 26 and voted on the AGM on December 3.
  • To follow more closely with the guidelines of the government, the 2024 department budget for volunteers’/team members is a maximum of $20/year per person, which can be meal or gift or gift card. For department training with lunch is a maximum of $10 subsidy per person limited to once per year.
  • The 2024 SRG procedure review group members are Pastor David Chan (chair), Vicki Chiu and Solomon Fung.
  • Pastor Don Dyck had accepted the invitation to increase his weekly working hours from 10 to 15.
  • Grace Li and Rachel Vong will be the deacon representatives of the 2024 deacon nomination committee.
  • The senior pastoral search committee and the English pastoral search committee members will be contacted for a one-year term in 2024. Their names will be stated in the organizational chart upon their acceptance.
  • Regretfully accepted the resignation of Jenny Liu from the post of Mandarin Christian Education department chairperson due to personal reasons.

  2. The Deacon Board established the upcoming schedule for the AGM:
    • 11/11 draft of Report & Plan done & ready to be reviewed by the deacons
    • 11/15 AGM booklet finalized by the Deacon Board
    • 11/19 AGM booklet released to the congregation
    • 11/24-26 Pre-AGM Family Chat to answer questions
    • 12/3 AGM to resolve questions and vote
  3. Guidelines for Cancellation of in-person Sunday gatherings: In case of inclement weather or unforeseen events, the lead pastor, in consultation with the Executive Committee, will decide by 6:00 am on Sunday whether to cancel in-person Sunday gatherings and switch to online activities. A message will be sent to all WhatsApp groups, posted on the church’s website & Facebook. Leaders, please ensure that your members are informed to join the Zoom meetings instead. The gathering time will remain the same as before, with a simplified rundown. The sermon will be uploaded to our YouTube channel at 2:30pm.

  2. 2024 Flower Dedicationsign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board. $50/date by offering with an envelope checking “Flowers” and your name.
  3. The current offering for the mission as of Oct. 15 is $57,550, while the mission budget for 2023 is $91,950.
  4. Complimentary 2024 PG Calendar is available to pick up at the front desk, one for each family.
